Nicaragua.
Where the hard packed sand of the beach at low tide is the best place for those on two wheels or two feet. Where there is nothing that cannot be found in one of the sprawling and chaotic markets. Where one place is flooded by a deluge of water and another is suffering through a crippling drought. Where be you by a river, by a lake or on the shores of the Pacific or Atlantic oceans, the sunsets are always magnificent.
Nicaragua is an incredibly diverse country where there is no one defining ‘way of life’. Some grow up living off the land in the depths of the jungle. Some spend their nights at sea in tiny banged up vessels, returning at daybreak with a haul of fish for market. Others spend their days at a 9 to 5 job, making their daily commute in a revamped American school bus.
These are the lives we saw, somewhere between the city and the surf.
